For Potters Market Participants
Participation
To participate in the Potters Market, you must be a current member of the Greater Lafayette Clay Guild and participate in Empty Bowls (EB) by donating bowls:
Setting up for Potter’s Market
Set up will take place on Friday, November 13, 1:00 - 4:00 PM and Saturday, November 14, 8:00 - 10:00 AM in the Central Presbyterian Church main Fellowship Hall and/or a smaller Fellowship Hall, if extra room is needed.
Booths will be approximately 8’ x 13’. Individual potters are responsible for the setup of their booth, including table coverings, displays, shelves, and wrapping material. Potters are also responsible for tear-down and cleanup after the close of the market. Each booth will be accessible from three sides with ample aisle space. Some will be along a wall, some back-to-back in the center of the room. The Guild will try to accommodate location requests. The Church can provide 8’ and 6’ tables and chairs. Once the number of participants is known, you can specify your needs. Bring your own carts or wagons to transport pottery from your vehicle into the Church. Take advantage of the handicap ramp. Just for unloading, you may park your vehicle in the alley between the two Church buildings. After unloading, move your vehicle out of the alley so others can unload.
Processing Payment and Sales Tax
Customers expect that many (but not necessarily all) booths accept debit and credit cards as well as cash and checks. You will need a cash box and change. If you intend to give receipts, please be prepared to do so. Consult with your tax preparer, CPA, or attorney to determine if you need a tax ID number. Instructions for obtaining a tax ID number are at
https://www.in.gov/dor/i-am-a/business-corp/business-education/register-business/bt-1-checklist/
Filing and payment of sales tax instructions are online at http://www.in.gov/dor/resources/online-services/intime/
Many sellers use “Square”, an app that handles transactions like keeping track of taxes. A free account can be set up at https://squareup.com/. Some prefer to use Venmo, PayPal, or other apps. Your booth, your choice! As with last year, Wi-Fi will be available for credit/debit card sales.
Direct all PM questions to PM coordinator Lynne Corrigan at [email protected].
Getting the word out
Coming soon from the Guild will be info that members should share with everyone on their mailing/email lists.
